Present Day & Future

Kevin Danyi has written extensively for Vision Magazine, a West Coast periodical about high-end estate and tax planning and offshore investing and has written the materials for and taught over two dozen continuing education classes in estate and trust law for lawyers, CPAs, bank trust officers, financial planners, and money managers.
An Eagle Scout Takes Wing
Danyi earned his Eagle Scout rank (with Gold Palm) at age 14 and has been active in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts at various times since then. In his spare time, Kevin sings Bass II in the Bach Choir of Bethlehem and the Chancel Choir of First Presbyterian Church. Kevin also is a rabid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, has a Golden Retriever and two crazy beagles, plays baroque flute and piano, and is a voracious reader of everything from Ian Fleming to C. S. Lewis.
Walking The Christian Path
When Kevin returned to Bethlehem after law school, he decided to join First Presbyterian Church, where he was attracted to the excellent choir and the conductor, Greg Funfgeld, as well as the preaching of Keith Brown. Danyi joined the Chancel Choir and got involved in the Men's Ministry programs, eventually graduating from the first year-long "Top Gun" men's leadership class. Prior to that, Kevin met Bill Hursh, a retired Bethlehem Steel executive and became a Christian under Bill's tutelage. In 1996, Kevin was elected to the Board of Trustees and in 1999, was elected President of the Board, serving for three years in that office. Kevin has been a lay preacher and is part of a mission team that makes a breakfast for the homeless once a month at New Bethany Ministries on the South Side. Danyi remains a committed Christian who strongly believes that Christianity is a lifestyle, not just a religion, and this carries into his outlook on business and the practice of law.
A Modern Family Man
Kevin absolutely loves taking off the pinstripes to enjoy the warm sand and reggae tunes of the beaches of St. Thomas, USVI, where for many years annually spends the best part of his life with his children, Frank J. Danyi III (who started at Moravian College and who now attends Penn State Lehigh Valley), Elisabeth Madsen Danyi (an 11th-grader and tennis player at Moravian Academy), and, of course, his fantastic wife of 23 years, Dr. J. Maria Danyi, founder and owner of I-Care Optical on Easton Avenue. Dr. Danyi has been Kevin's steadfast, unswerving, and dedicated wife and supporter throughout his career; the couple started out together, both fresh out of school, with student loans and a sheepdog. Within two years their first child was born and the second followed four years later. They lived in the old Edgeboro section of Bethlehem for years. Most of the time, they worked hard. Kevin and Maria also helped each to build solid businesses while both working long hours. Kevin was often the one who took the kids to the pool, choir practice, Cub Scouts, etc. Maria doubled as a mother and optometrist. Things finally came together in 1997: both business were running solidly and the kids growing up.
The Danyi Family in Bethlehem
Dr. J. Maria Danyi and I-Care Optical
Dr. Danyi is, as well as being a first-class optometrist who graduated with high honors from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, also a knowledgable and experienced business owner in her own right and has long been one of Kevin's closest advisors in business and financial matters, giving "kitchen cabinet advisors" a whole new meaning!
Melissa P. Rudas, Esq.
Directly across the street from DLO's offices are the law offices of experienced litigator Melissa P. Rudas, Esq., Kevin Danyi's cousin. Danyi and Rudas, just like their fathers, started out their careers searching titles at the courthouse, both of them while in high school. Kevin often refers his clients to Atty. Rudas for domestic and marital cases, personal injury cases, general litigation, and other areas of law that DLO does not handle. Atty. Rudas is a high-energy individual and aggressive trial lawyer as well as being a caring and considerate wife, mother, and animal lover who is active in several animal rights' issues and groups.
Frank J. Danyi, Jr., Esq. & Family
Kevin's father, Frank J. Danyi, Jr., is semi-retired and Of Counsel to the old law firm. Frank Jr. also set an example for Kevin of public service: He served as Chairman of the Board of St. Luke's Hospital for many years and has been a Board member since 1980. He was also Chairman of the Northampton County Prison Commission for over two decades. In addition, His sister is a veterinarian and his brother teaches at Northeast Middle School. Kevin's uncle Ron Danyi has been a schoolteacher for over 30 years, in special eduction.
Frank J. Danyi III and the Future
Finally, to close this story, Frank J. Danyi III is now working as a Law Clerk for his father while attending college and studying for the real estate exam, starting from "the ground floor" by doing everything from proof-reading and recording documents to emptying the trash. Although Frank III may not go into the law, he is considering high-end residential or commercial real estate sales to further augment the variety of legal, medical, financial, teaching, veterinary and other professional services provided to the Bethlehem community by the Danyi Family for many decades in the past and, with hard work and God's blessings, for many years in the future. The Danyi Family is part of the Bethlehem community and is here to stay, not just to do business, but to contribute and to give back to the town that first welcomed these new Americans in distant 1904.
